The husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been charged with causing DUI injuries and could face jail for alleged drunk driving in late May, officials said Thursday.
Paul Pelosi, 82, has been charged with new charges – including driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury, and driving with a 0.08% blood alcohol level or higher, causing injury, Napa District Attorney said.
Pelosi was arrested shortly before midnight on May 28 in Napa County, California, after crashing into another driver.
He was on his way from dinner to his and Nancy’s vineyard, River Run, when a 48-year-old man driving a 2014 SUV crashed into his Porsche.

At the time of the crash and its subsequent arrest, Pelosi’s blood alcohol content was 0.082%, the Napa County District Attorney said.
Pelosi was charged with initial charges of drunk driving and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher around 4:13 a.m. on Sunday, May 29. He was released a few hours later at 7:26 a.m. after paying $ 5,000 bail, according to online police records.
If convicted of the new charges, the California Democrat’s husband could face up to five years probation, a minimum of five days in prison, the installation of an ignition interlock and other conditions such as completing a court-ordered drunken driving class.
Pelosi is due back in court on August 3.
At the time of her husband’s arrest, the congresswoman was in Providence, Rhode Island, to deliver the offensive speech at Brown University just hours later.
The district attorney declined to release any footage showing Paul Pelosi’s arrest, saying it could “threaten” the investigation.
