A141 Live Traffic Updates: Serious Clash with Wounded Two Closes Chatteris Road

The A141 Isle Of Ely Way is closed in both directions due to a serious road collision. Two people were reported injured, and one was rushed to hospital after a collision in which a truck caught fire.

The incident happened around 4.15 this morning (Friday, June 24) on the A141 between Bridge Street (Chatteris) and B1093 (Wimblington). The collision affected a minibus and a heavy vehicle, the truck caught fire and was in a ditch when emergency services arrived on the scene.

Firefighters from Chateris, March, Ramsey, Manea and Huntingdon were present at the incident and extinguished the fire with reels and jets. Two were reported injured, one was taken to hospital. It is not clear how serious their injuries are at this stage.

After the collision, the road remained closed in both directions, with congestion increasing to local roads through Doddington as traffic diverted. At this stage it is not known when the route can be reopened

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “We received a call at around 4.15 this morning (24 June) with reports of a serious collision involving a minibus and an A141 truck near Wimblington. Officers, paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene.

“Two people were injured, but further details are not clear at this stage. The road is closed between Wimblington and the Slade End roundabout near Chatteris.

A spokesman for the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 4:12 a.m., crews were called in for an A141 road collision between Chateris and Doddington.

“Crews from Chatteris, March, Ramsey, Manea and Huntingdon were present at the incident.

“Firefighters arrived to find a collision between a truck and a minibus, and the truck was set on fire in a ditch. They extinguished the fire with breathing apparatus with hose reels and jets.

“One victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“The road is closed on the A141, so please use alternative routes and plan your trip before you leave.”
