Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of a Walsend man

Two other men are accused of killing a 43-year-old man who died after an alleged attack in Wallsend.

Police were called from an ambulance on St. Hill’s Avenue in St. Cross on Monday afternoon (June 20), where Nathaniel Wardle was found wounded. He received serious injuries corresponding to being caused by an object with a blade and was pronounced dead on the spot. His close relatives are supported by family liaison officers.

Two 17-year-old men, whose names could not be named for legal reasons, have been charged with murder and possession of an insulting weapon. They are due to appear in the Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning.

Mohamed Rabbani, 18, of Weldon Crescent, Heaton, was previously charged with murder and possession of an object with a blade in connection with the incident. He appeared in Newcastle Crown Court on Friday and will next appear in Newcastle Crown Court in November.

Detective Inspector Louise Jenkins of Northumbria Police said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Nathaniel’s family and loved ones and we ask that their confidentiality continue to be respected. We know that these types of incidents can cause some concern in the local community. I want to assure everyone that we believe that there is no wider threat to the public and that employees remain in the area to continue their investigations.

“I would also like to thank those who came out with information and the patience of the public during our investigation. Three men now have to appear in court accused of this incident, and I want to remind the public to refrain from any speculation – both on social media and in the wider community – that could jeopardize the proceedings.

Anyone with information is invited to contact Northumbria Police via the Force website or by calling the non-emergency number 101, referring to NP-20220622-0535.

Earlier, friends paid tribute to Nathaniel, who was described as a loving father of four. Ashley Fontaine has created a page on the online fundraising site JustGiving. She hopes to raise £ 2,000 to help Nathaniel’s family pay for his funeral.

She wrote: “Nati was the single father of four boys aged 11 to 18. Anyone who knew Nati knew that he was so loving, happy and stupid with all his children, nieces and nephews, that it would be a huge disadvantage for everyone.

“This story is something you see on TV, never expect it to happen to you.

“The money we are trying to raise is all to make sure that the four boys and his family will send it the way they would like and it is one less thing to worry about during this terrible time. “
