A47 Norfolk: Closed in both directions near Swaffham after an accident

The A47 is currently closed in both directions near Swaffham after a serious accident.

Emergency services are currently at the crash site between A1075 and A1065.

In a tweet, National Highways East said: “The A47 in Norfolk was closed in both directions between the A1075 and the A1065 near Swafham after a collision.

“Norfolk police are on the scene, and the road is likely to remain closed throughout the day.”

National highways have built diversion routes, which are as follows:

East detour route:

  • Exit the A47 at the Swaffham junction.
  • At the junction A1065, turn right and follow the A1065 to Fakenham.
  • At the roundabout, A148, take the 2nd exit onto A148,
  • Continue on the A148 to the next roundabout and turn right on the third onto the A1067.
  • Continue on the A1067 via Bintree, Bawdeswell, Morton, Attlebridge, Taversham and Drayton to the A140 Ring Road in Norwich.
  • At the roundabout A140, take the third exit onto A140.
  • At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto A1074 and rejoin A47 at Longwater Interchange.

Westbound route:

  • Exit the A47 at Thickthorn Interchange and take the first exit from the roundabout onto the A11.
  • Continue on the A11 to the roundabout Mundford Road at Thetford.
  • Take the third exit from the roundabout and continue on A134 to the roundabout A1065 at Munford.
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit and continue onto A1065 to rejoin Swaffham Interchange’s A47.
