Ottawa firefighters helped four people return safely to shore after falling from a paddle board into the Ottawa River and crossing the Deschen Rapids at the western end of Ottawa.
Emergency crews responded to a 911 call from someone in Britain Beach around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, saying four people had fallen from a paddle board and were passing through the Deschen Rapids.
The Ottawa Fire Department said that by the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the four people had crossed the rapids and were holding on to the support paddle.
The crews managed to find the four people and helped bring them back to shore safely.
No casualties were reported.
This was the second call for an emergency board with a Deschen speed paddle.
Shortly after 6 p.m., firefighters answered a call to 911, reporting a distressed border in the Ottawa River.
Upon arrival, the water rescue team began a search of the network and with the assistance of firefighters on the spot were able to make a visual inspection of the person in question.
A passing boat raised the oar and returned them to shore.
