1 died after an alligator attack in South Carolina

A man died after an alligator dragged them into a pond in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, police said Friday. The victim has not been identified.

The situation began when authorities responded to a “water call” on Friday morning. When they arrived, investigators found that an alligator had caught the victim and dragged her to a nearby pond, according to a statement from the Hori County Police Department.

The victim’s body was removed from the lake.

The alligator was euthanized in accordance with the advice of a biologist from the Department of Wildlife of the Ministry of Natural Resources of South Carolina, as well as a concluded service for the removal of alligators, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.

Last year, an alligator attacked a woman a few hours away in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and seriously injured her, causing a neighbor to rescue her with a shovel.
