Break: Main road CLOSED and “air ambulance lands” after a serious accident

Emergency services leaked on a main road in East Manchester after a serious accident with a cyclist. The A57 Hyde Road, in Gorton, is currently closed in both directions on Reddish Bridge after an accident near Debdale Lane.

Eyewitnesses said they saw an air ambulance land on the scene. Details about the nature of the collision have not yet been confirmed.

In a message sent on Twitter, a spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “A57 Hyde Road – closed on Reddish Bridge in both directions. This is due to a collision of road traffic.

“This has an impact on the M60 J24 Denton Island Slips. Please avoid the area if possible.

The closure is causing slow traffic between Denton Island and Wellington Street, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system. Inrix says the crash was first reported around 1:50 p.m. this afternoon.

There is also heavy traffic in the Dane Bank area of ​​Denton after the crash. Greater Manchester Police, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the Northwest Ambulance have been contacted for comment.
