“Apologetic apology for a country”

Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong told concertgoers in London that he was “renouncing” his US citizenship in protest of the repeal of Rowe’s Supreme Court against Wade.

Performing at London Stadium just hours after a Conservative-majority court ruled that abortion rights were no longer protected, the 50-year-old rock star stormed the decision on Friday night.

“F *** America,” Armstrong said on stage for the Hella Mega tour, which his band headlined along with Weezer, Fall Out Boy and others. “Damn I’m giving up my citizenship. Damn I’m coming here.”

As the crowd applauded in response, the California native continued to speak.

“There’s too much fucking nonsense in the world to go back to that miserable fucking excuse for a country,” continued Armstrong, who at one point during the show was draped with a Union Jack flag. “Oh, I’m not kidding. You’ll get a lot from me in the next few days.”

The Daily Mail reports that Armstrong also shouted “damn, America’s Supreme Court” before releasing the 2004 hit “American Idiot,” Green Day’s response to the Iraq war and the media frenzy surrounding it.

Armstrong – who joins musicians such as Olivia Rodrigo, Billy Isle, Phoebe Bridgers, Megan Ti Stallion and others in condemning the Supreme Court ruling on stage – has previously described himself as politically independent. The singer did not shy away from calling politicians, including former presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump. Most recently, Green Day presented itself in front of a banner reading “F *** Ted Cruz”, referring to the Republican senator after the recent mass shooting in Uwalde, Texas.
