McMurty, likened by many to a miniature Batmobile, is based on the small footprint of the grand prize from the 1960s – this gave Chilton plenty of room to shoot between bales of hay.
The all-electric single-seater machine with closed cabin tilts the scales to less than 1000 kg to have a power / weight ratio of 1000 hp. per ton.

Former penalty winner Justin Lowe returned with his Jaguar XJR-12D “Bud Light” in fourth place after crashing in 2021 when the low-pressure rear wing hanging behind the rear body caught a bale of hay.
Travis Pastrana, who launched a Subaru rally car earlier in the weekend, finished fifth in the custom Subaru GL Family Huckster, complete with 860 hp. and a dizzying set of air brakes.
Dumas took sixth place in the fourth generation Ford Supervan with 2000 hp, while Heidfeld’s race in the young Mahindra Gen3 Formula E was interrupted by a technical problem.
The shootout took place after the usual ceremony on the balcony, which ended in 2022 with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Nigel Mensel’s title at the Formula 1 World Championship.
During the event, Mansel drove both his famous “Red 5” Williams FW14B and Ferrari 640 up the hill.
