Victoria police said a man was arrested on Saturday night after officers saw him assault women.
Officers were called to Block 1100 on Douglas Street shortly after 9 p.m. to report that a man had sexually assaulted people.
When the officers arrived, they saw the man approaching a group of women and reaching behind them. VicPD says he was immediately detained.
He is in custody and faces a number of recommended sexual assault charges.
While police spoke to the three women, who were seen as sexually assaulting, two other women, one of whom VicPD describes as a young man, told officers they had been sexually assaulted by the man.
According to police, none of the women knew the man.
In a statement, VicPD said none of the women needed medical attention, but at least one was hit hard enough to knock her to the ground.
Officials believe there may be other victims who have not yet spoken to police.
“Based on the initial summons and witness information, investigators believe the suspect sexually assaulted others who have not yet testified,” VicPD said in a statement.
