You can now register to have the chance – or to say – the extraordinary honor of pre-ordering Nothing Phone (1) in China, Europe and the United Kingdom. This is the first smartphone from the startup of Carl Pei, which is definitely a brand for those who want to believe in noise.

For several months I want to write a lot of material about the mood for “sneakers” in the smartphone market. Today, to buy a pair of Nike, Adidas or New Balance shoes, you need to register for raffles – such an awkward term – and pray to the Holy Spirits of the biased brand algorithms to choose you and make you a winner.
If this miracle happens to you, you will have the privilege of giving them your hard-earned money to buy a pair of sneakers in this way, thus avoiding buying them from retailers at inflated prices.
Waiting list and small deposit for pre-order of Nothing Phone (1)
Alas, I took a breath after this sentence of 4 lines! But essentially what is being done in the sneaker market is slowly moving into the smartphone market. And Nothing, the hype technology brand at the moment, seems to want to be a pioneer in this field.
So, in order to be able to pre-order a Nothing Phone smartphone (1), you need to register on a waiting list through the official Nothing website. As I write this, I’m number 33,557 – ah no! Number 33,558 in the race for the Grail. You can increase your chances by asking friends and family to sign up through your referral link in an attempt to move up the list.
But that’s not all, if you receive confirmation of your participation in the pre-order phase, you have 48 hours to click on the link that will be sent to you by Nothing. You will then need to pay a deposit of € 20 – or £ 20 if you are in the UK – to book your Nothing phone (1). This amount will be refunded and you will also receive an additional credit of € 20 / £ 20 for Nothing accessories, such as Nothing Earphones (1), perhaps?
Please note that if you are in North America, joining the waiting list does not apply to you. In a statement sent to PCMag, the company said the Nothing (1) phone would not be coming to the US or Canada:
While we would like to provide a telephone (1) to the entire community around the world, we focus on domestic markets, including the United Kingdom and Europe, where we have strong partnerships with leading local operators. It takes a lot to launch a smartphone, as you know, from ensuring that the phone is supported by the country’s cellular technology to partnerships with operators and local regulation, and since we are still a young brand, we need to be strategic in this regard.
Finally, on July 12, 2022, when the Nothing Phone (1) will be officially launched, you will receive a final email to order your model. I will not grumble more about this business model, which is, to put it mildly, aggressive. But I’ll see you, Nothing!
