The Pixel 6a fingerprint sensor works faster than the 6 Pro [Video]

Due to a Malaysian retailer, there are at least two Pixel 6a devices in the wild before launching next month. Two new videos in recent days provide more details about the Pixel 6a, including a look at how much better the fingerprint sensor is.

Before you watch, it’s important to note that the Pixel 6a works with incomplete software. We learned earlier that these units are in the security patch for April. Updates from the first day will certainly bring all the adjustments and optimizations made in the last three months.

With that in mind, the first video came from Fazli Halim on YouTube with a Pixel 6a compared to the 6 Pro. Google previously said the 6a uses a different fingerprint sensor under the display than last year’s Pixel flagship line.

The middle ranger appears faster – the video below is in a queue until 4:55 – when recognizing your finger with less contact required. From the quick thumb placement we see how the 6a unlocks more often than the 6 Pro. This is good for newer hardware, and we hope it will be used by Google in the future, as “Hold a little longer” is common among existing owners.

The YouTube account Izami Gadget compares the camera between the Pixel 6a and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It’s really not fair for a mid-range phone to stand up to a flagship, while Google will certainly set up the camera further before it goes on the market. This may explain why the Pixel 6a became too hot to record after four minutes of video and an additional four spent on photos.

The device is too hot. Close the camera until the device cools down.

They say that the metal frame becomes especially warm. Meanwhile, a frame (as seen on our cover above) shows an annoying collection of dust under the camera bar.
