Blue Jays Choose Sean Anderson

The Blue Jays have announced that they have chosen the right Sean Anderson in the MLB list, with the reliever Jeremy Beasley being chosen for the Triple-A Buffalo. The list of 40 people was created by moving Hyun Jin Ryu from the 15-day to the 60-day list of injured.

Toronto snatched Anderson’s refusal from Padres last November. They ignored him a few weeks later, keeping him in the minor leagues without the need for 40 people. The right hand was a much-desired heel depth option after bouncing between Minnesota, Texas and Baltimore before landing in San Diego. Overall, he fights to 8.49 ERA through 23 1/3 innings with three bats.

Anderson spent this season with Bisons, making 46 innings in 14 appearances (including six starts). The 27-year-old has an 3.91 ERA, knocking out an average of 19.7% of opponents, but showing strong control as a pitcher with a few innings. Anderson still has a year left with a minor league option, so Jace can transfer him from Toronto to Buffalo for the rest of the season.

The transfer of Ryu to IL was a formality when the club needed a seat for 40 people. The left-handed veteran recently underwent surgery on Tommy John. He will miss the rest of this season and most or all of next year.
