The RCMP confirmed that two men were dead and one person was seriously injured after a head-on collision of Trans Canada near the Blue Canoe camp over the weekend.
The crash near Springdale forced a freeway stop for several hours on Saturday morning as ambulances arrived on the scene.
Police said the driver and the only passenger in one of the vehicles, a 64-year-old man, died on the spot. The 19-year-old driver of the second vehicle and his companion were taken to hospital, where the young driver later died of his injuries.
The roads were wet during the accident, with periods of heavy rain and accumulation of water on the highway.
The investigation is ongoing.
