BT workers have voted to go on national strike for the first time in 35 years, marking the latest industrial dispute over pay.
More than 25,000 members of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) at BT and Openreach, the company’s broadband infrastructure business, voted in support.
Potential strike action will have a major impact on infrastructure, particularly broadband deployment, and could cause significant problems for home workers.
Given that many of those who voted to strike at BT work in call centres, this could also cause disruption and delays for customers.
