A 24-year-old woman is dead after an accident in the Winnipeg Transcona area in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.
Emergency crews responded to the collision of two vehicles at the intersection of Bond Street and Kildare West Avenue around 2:20 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Department said in a press release.
The murdered woman was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash and had to be retrieved by the Winnipeg Fire Department.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died of her injuries, the statement said.
A police strip was spotted around a house in the area, with footprints on the lawn leading to the backyard. The fence has been torn down.
The driver of the other vehicle and its passengers fled the scene, although police said they questioned a number of people who saw the accident.
All those who have information about the accident are asked to call the investigators from the traffic department at 204-986-7085.
