A boy was followed and attacked by balaclava-clad thugs in a transit van

A boy was attacked and robbed by two balaclava-clad thugs traveling in a red transit van.

The 16-year-old was riding his electric bicycle on Childwall Park Avenue in Childwall around 7pm on Sunday, March 27, when a van began following him down the road. The van stopped in front of the victim and two men in balaclavas jumped out before attacking the boy and stealing his motorcycle.

He received injuries to his face and arm during the robbery, which police described as a “violent attack”. Detectives have now released a video surveillance image of the van used to steal the motorcycle and are appealing to witnesses who were in the area of Childwall Road, Woolton Road, Queens Drive or Smithdown Road at the time.

Police said one of the attackers was wearing a balaclava, a blue jacket and Montirex fitness clothing, while another man was wearing a Nike snood on his face and a blue Montirex tracksuit.

Officer Owen Pemberton said: “It was a violent attack on a teenager that no one should go through in their own community. I urge anyone who has been on Childwall Road, Woolton Road, Queens Drive and Smithdown Road around 7pm and may have seen the van in the photo to contact us so that we can bring the offenders to justice.

“I also urge drivers and residents with video surveillance and billboards to check your footage, which may have been taken by the suspects, to leave. The stolen electric bike is described as a dark lemon green Giant bike, so I would urge anyone who may have seen this bike or browsed it online for sale to contact us. ”
