A fire with 4 alarms in the Plateau district of Montreal has been contained

It took the joint efforts of about 100 firefighters in Montreal to deal with a four-alarm fire in the Plateau neighborhood near the intersection of St-Laurent Boulevard and Prince-Arthur Street on Saturday.

The flames erupted around 1:30 pm on the alley behind a residential building at 3646 Saint-Laurent Blvd. and quickly spread to neighboring balconies.

No casualties were reported and four buildings were evacuated safely. Damage is limited to rear balconies and courtyards.

Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, the Montreal Fire Department reminded people to be careful when using their barbecues at this time of year and to monitor their equipment carefully.
