Trail resident Jean-Carl Larkamp, 36, has been on the run since February, when royal Thai police said he and co-accused Matthew Dupre, 36, had traveled to Phuket to kill former Abbots gangster Jimmy Sandu.

Dupre was arrested Feb. 20 in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, and remains in jail awaiting extradition hearing.

But Larkamp remained elusive, even after the BOLO program – Be On the Lookout – announced a $ 100,000 prize on April 26 for information leading to his arrest.

The British Columbia Combined Enforcement Unit said Tuesday that Larkamp has been confirmed as one of four people killed when a small plane crashed on April 30 near Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

“As a result of his death, CFSEU-BC contacted the Bolo program and advised international and domestic law enforcement partners,” said the sergeant. Brenda Winpeni said in a press release, adding that the investigation into the crash was being led by the Ontario Police and the Transportation Safety Board.

The OPP also issued a statement saying the pilot of the small private jet was a 26-year-old Richmond man named Abhinav Handa.

The search began on April 29th, when the plane was “reported overdue”, the OPP said.

The remains were found around 7:45 a.m. the next day. Duncan Bailey, a 37-year-old Kamloops resident, was also killed. The name of the fourth victim is hidden until the family members are notified.
