A loaded pistol found in high school in West Charlotte; a student has been arrested, authorities said
CHARLOTTE – A student was found with a loaded pistol on the campus of the Philip O. Berry Academy of Technology on Monday morning, a spokesman for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools told Channel 9.
The weapon was discovered when the student passed through one of the school’s weapon detectors, CMS reported. According to the office of the sheriff of Mecklenburg, an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with carrying a hidden pistol and a weapon in an educational property.

The school has not been blocked, as the weapon was found on the student’s arrival, according to the CMS.
The county said it was the first time a gun had been found through a gun detector. This was the second day that weapons detectors were used at the school, CMS said.
Granny Angelina Berry told Channel 9 that she was relieved to hear that they had caught the gun before entering the classroom, and said weapon detectors were a good idea.
“She said they had arrested a boy carrying a gun at school. She doesn’t want me to panic, “said Angelina Berry’s grandmother. “Thank God they have metal detectors. I didn’t even know they had them. “

She wants to know how the 18-year-old got the gun.
“Where do they get them from?” This is the real question. Where do they get them from? ”Said Berry.
Sources told Channel 9 that it may have been a ghost pistol. Officials confirmed that the pistol found was a “polymer construction”, meaning that it had been purchased in pieces and had to be assembled. This is how ghost weapons are made.
According to Channel 9 reports, this is the 29th time a gun has been found on a CMS campus this school year.
Channel 9 asks the CMS and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more information. We have not received a response from them.
