A man appears to be pointing a gun at a Chicago television crew during a live report on gun violence – deadline

Chicago police are looking for a man who appears to have pointed a gun at a local television news crew during a live report on gun violence in the city.

Fox 32 Chicago was broadcasting live just before 7 a.m. Wednesday in the River North neighborhood when a man came into view behind reporter Johnny Lum with what looked like a small pistol aimed at the camera, just inches from Lum’s head.

Lum reported on the Good Day Chicago segment about the increase in gun violence in the city, which increased by 66% from 2019 to 2021 at that time. The man kept walking and then jumped down the street, still holding the alleged pistol and eventually out of sight.

Neither Lum nor her photographer were injured.

Chicago police called the man “a person of interest” and asked anyone with information to contact the department.

Tensions are high across the country after several recent mass shootings, most recently Tuesday’s shooting at Robb Uvalde Elementary School in Texas, which killed 19 children and two adults.
