A man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after a Burnley woman disappeared British news

A man arrested by police investigating the disappearance of a 33-year-old woman in Burnley is said to know her.

Detectives were given another 36 hours to question a 50-year-old Burnley man on suspicion of kidnapping. In a statement Monday, Lancashire police said the man was known to Katie Kenyon, who had not been seen since Friday morning.

Kenyon was seen leaving an address on Todmordon Road, Burnley. Around 9:30 a.m., a woman matching her description witnessed a man leave and travel in a silver Ford Transit to the Bolton-by-Bowland area of northern Lancashire.

Kenyon of Paddyham, near Burnley, has not been seen since. Family members said her disappearance was uncommon.

Police have recruited mountain rescue teams and firefighters to help search rural areas. She is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches, with blond hair to the shoulders.

She was last seen wearing a blue cardigan, a light blue and white top and a black legging.

Police released a photo of the silver Transit van, urging anyone who has seen the vehicle or has a dash record to show up.

DCI’s Al Davis, of Lancashire’s chief police investigative team, said: “We continue to be extremely concerned about Katie and have a large team working hard to find out what happened to her.

“I keep an open mind about what happened to her, but my anxiety is clearly growing over time.

“Again, I would urge anyone who was in the Bolton-by-Bowland area on Friday and saw something suspicious to contact, especially if they saw the silver van or Katie alone or in company.

“Please come and talk to us, even if you think the information you have may not be important.”
