A man was shot in the driveway of an apartment building in the Otter Point area of Suke

A Souk man is recovering in hospital after being shot in his driveway on Saturday night.

The shooting took place around 7:30 pm in the Otter Point area of Suke.

Sooke RCMP found a man suffering severe gunshot wounds. He was immediately transferred to Victoria Hospital.

The victim was identified as Tony Nelson. According to GoFundMe, he was on his own alley.

“He is one of the kindest, most generous, humble men you will ever meet. His family is his world! “Through absolutely no fault of his own, his life will now be changed forever,” GoFundMe writes.

“We hope to raise money to allow him to recover without worrying about where his next salary comes from. We also want to help support his wife Wendy, the love of his life, so she can stay with her husband while he recovers. “

Nelson also has a teenage son.

The Sooke RCMP, with the assistance of the Westshore RCMP, the Vancouver Police Dog Service and the Emergency Response Team, discovered and arrested a 55-year-old Suke man.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot and was found hiding in a nearby neighborhood,” said Sergeant Kevin Shaw, acting commander of the Sooke RCMP Squadron.

Although investigators are in the early stages of the investigation, police say early indications are that the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Police believe it was a targeted attack and there is no further risk to the public.
