A man was stabbed to death near a school in Coquitlam

A stabbing near the École Glen Primary School in Coquitlam, British Columbia, killed a man early Sunday morning, according to Mounties.

Officers arrived at the scene when they received a stabbing signal at Block 3000 on Glen Drive shortly after 12:40 p.m. PT and found an elderly man suffering from a stab wound, an RCMP statement said.

Despite attempts to revive the victim, the man died on the spot.

One person has been arrested and is in custody, although police say the investigation is still in its infancy.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is conducting an investigation in partnership with the Coquitlam RCMP.
