A man who once complained that he lived next door to a convicted pedophile has been thrown in jail for being a pedophile.
Darren Hyam, 53, once complained to his local newspaper that he was angry that his housing association had not told him that his neighbor was a sex offender. But he is now behind bars for subjecting a child to a series of heinous sexual harassment from the age of seven to about 11.
The abuse ranged from kissing and touching the child to forcing him to have sex with him more than once. His ill-fated crime came to light when he was spotted with the victim, prosecutor David Watson told Liverpool Royal Courts of Justice.

Mr Watson said the person who saw them felt something was “wrong” and contacted social services. The victim later told her mother that she had been sexually abused by Hyam for “centuries”.
The child told police how Hyam, a self-employed musician, kissed her and put his penis on her and remembered once touching her. She also told them how he asked her not to tell anyone about the violence, as that would mean he would be sent to prison.
The injured girl said she sometimes pretended to be tired and fell asleep hoping that Hyam’s violence would stop. When police approached Haim of Chafinch Close, Birchwood, about the alleged crimes, he injured himself and was hospitalized, insisting he had no sexual interest in children.
But he later admitted to the abuse, saying “something went wrong” inside him. Defending, Gary Lawrence said that before these crimes, Hyam was a man of good character.
He told the court that Hyam had shown sincere remorse and was ready to work with the probation services. Mr Lawrence said: “He does not seek to minimize his actions in any way, form or form.
Hyam wrote a letter to the court, which reads: “There are no words to describe how much devastation and remorse I feel. I stand before you by accepting any punishment you deem appropriate. ” He was sentenced to four years in prison, ordered to prevent sexual injuries for 10 years and subjected to a restraining order.
Speaking after the verdict, Cheshire Police Detective Chris Orme said: “I hope the verdict has brought some end to the victim. This young man showed great courage to report what had happened.
“Ultimately, this meant that Darren Hyam could be brought to justice, where he pleaded guilty to these heinous crimes.
In 1999, Hyam told his local newspaper that he would never have moved into the house where he lived if he had known about his neighbor’s predatory past and asked to be moved.
