A man’s body has been found in the landing gear of a plane flying from Gambia to Britain.
The unidentified body of a black man was found on a plane operated by TUI Airways – a British charter airline – which was flying from Gambia’s capital Banjul to London’s Gatwick Airport, a Gambian government spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday.
Sussex Police said the body was found in Gatwick at around 4am on December 7.
A statement from the force said: “Police were called after the body of a man was found in the landing gear of an aircraft at Gatwick Airport arriving from Gambia at around 4am on 7 December.
“Officers are investigating and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
However, this is not the first time – homeless passengers on planes and ships have happened before.
In 2015, Dutch authorities found a body in the landing gear of a plane from Africa at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
In November, three passengers were found at the helm of a ship in the Canary Islands after an 11-day ocean voyage from Nigeria.
In 2019, a Stowaway reportedly fell from a plane at Heathrow and landed next to a sunbather.
The body was found on the undercarriage of a Kenya Airways flight departing from Nairobi.
