A pedestrian was hit and killed by a truck in Brampton

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a truck driver in Brampton on Thursday night, Peel police said.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Bovaird Drive East and Kennedy Road North around 6:30 p.m.

When ambulances arrived, they found the pedestrian, a man in his 70s, with serious, life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was found dead.

Police said the driver of the car remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

At the intersection, police officers were spotted checking an unmarked white truck and a black sedan. Police confirmed that the truck hit the pedestrian. It is not yet known how the sedan was involved in the collision.

“I know the pedestrian was walking south. As for the location of the road, I cannot confirm at the moment. That’s part of the investigation, “Const said. Donna Morris.

“At this point, I’m not sure which direction (the vehicle) was traveling,” she added.

Asked if the driver was distracted, Morris said investigators from the Big Crash Bureau would determine what led to the collision.

“The investigation is currently at an early stage. And investigators will look at all aspects of what happened here tonight, “Morris said.

Kennedy Road is closed between Wexford and Rutherford roads. Police also blocked Bovaird Drive from Richvale to Conestoga.

“We ask anyone who has been to the area who may have a record from the board, or has heard or seen something during the clash, to contact investigators and provide them with this information,” Morris said.

People living in the area said many drivers exceeded the speed limit.

Sumet Singh told CTV News Toronto that Thursday’s incident was unfortunate. He described the intersection as dangerous and that accidents happen often.

“There are so many speeding cars here,” Singh said. “It’s very difficult to cross the intersection.”
