Vancouver Metro Transit Police is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in an alleged unprovoked attack on a teenage girl on a bus in Surrey.
According to a police statement, a 17-year-old girl boarded a 355 bus bound for the Newton Stock Exchange in Surrey on April 1 shortly before 2 p.m. A man boarded the same bus some time after the girl and, according to police, began behaving chaotically before sitting near the teenager.
Police say the man became more and more aroused after he stood up to block the teenager in her place before, without any provocation, hitting her several times in the head, causing her glasses to fly out of her face.
When the girl bent down to pick up her glasses, the suspect used his knee to hit her in the head.
