A United Airlines flight made an emergency landing in St. John’s

A United Airlines flight bound for Barcelona made an unexpected landing in St. John’s early Saturday morning.

The plane, which took off from New York, made an emergency landing at YYT after smoke was reported in one of its cabins.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department was called just before midnight, with the plane landing about 15 minutes later.

Passengers and crew were evacuated upon arrival. No smoke or fire was detected on board the Boeing 767-400 and no injuries were reported.

A second plane is on its way to St. John’s to complete the journey to Spain.
