A 53-year-old woman has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly stabbing in Somerset this week. Detectives from the Somerset Major Crime Investigation Team have filed charges against Dawn Lewis of Chickwell Street, Glastonbury, in connection with the incident.
This was followed by the death of 61-year-old Glen Richards at a property on Chickwell Street in the early hours of Tuesday (April 19th). Mr Richards died on the spot after being stabbed.
Lewis was indicted this afternoon (Thursday, April 21) and remains in police custody. She is due to appear in the magistrate’s court in Yeovil on Friday (April 22nd).

The post-mortem examination concluded that the preliminary cause of Mr Richards’ death was multiple stab wounds, police said. His close relatives are informed and are informed by specially trained officers to contact the family.
Chief Inspector Andrew Pritchard of Avon and Somerset Police said: “We recognize that ongoing policing in the area may be alarming and I would like to reassure community members that they will remain in the area if anyone wishes to express concerns to them. an in-depth investigation is underway and although we have reduced the size of the cordon, we expect a few more days to pass before we complete all our inquiries. “
A police cordon remains in place as the investigation continues. A statement from the police added: “Anyone who has information about this incident, who has not yet spoken to the police, is asked to call us at 101, providing the caller with reference number 5222091818.”
