A woman died in a fatal collision between a train and a flatbed truck in Maple Ridge BC
RCMP Ridge Meadows says the collision occurred Thursday around 5:45 p.m.
Reports indicate that the truck was hit by an oncoming train, as a result of which the truck collided with a black SUV in block 27200 on the Lougheed highway.
“A truck with on-board trucks was trying to cross the rails of the train when the back of the board was hit by a train heading east. The impact of the train, which collided with the truck, led to the impact of the jeep, which was trying to cross the rails in the opposite direction, keeping the driver in the jeep, “said the RCMP spokesman, Capt. Julie Klausner.
Rescue teams worked to rescue the woman trapped in the jeep that overturned as a result of the impact, unfortunately the woman died on the spot. BC Coroners Services is investigating the circumstances of the death.
