The Eagles entered the 2022 NFL Draft in search of a broad successor, and on Thursday night they found one – only not from the incoming class of recruits. After climbing to face Georgia’s defensive game with Jordan Davis at No. 13 as the overall pick, Philadelphia swapped their second round of 1 pick, handing out the Titans at number 18 as part of a blockbuster package for AJ Brown as the first ESPN reported.
Not only that, but the Eagles have already signed the Pro Bowl with a four-year $ 100 million extension with a guaranteed $ 57 million for NFL Media as they have secured a new long-term goal.
In return for Brown, the Titans received the overall pick at No. 18, which they continued to use on the potential successor to Brown’s Arkansas Trail Burks, as well as the 101st pick of the Eagles, a third-round player.
Choosing in the second round of the Titans three years ago, Brown is one of the best young pass hunters in the NFL, with a total of 2,995 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns since 2019. He was one of several big names who recently decided to endure volunteer training in search of long-term contracts in light of the rapidly escalating receiver market.
Despite Tennessee’s public statements about Brown’s future with the organization, Brown himself was particularly sensitive to talks about stalled social media talks as he acknowledged rumors of potential trade.
The second veteran successor is exchanged on the night of the draft after the Marquise Brown of Ravens, who landed with the Cardinals, the former Titans star missed four games due to injury in 2021, but immediately qualified as an upgrade in Philadelphia, where he will start in 2021 DeVonta Smith First Round Choice.
Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts is a well-known friend of AJ Brown and the two recently worked together, so their sudden pairing is another sign that Philly is committed to building Hurts for the 2022 campaign.
The 24-year-old Brown, meanwhile, is becoming one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL under his expansion with the Eagles, which costs an average of $ 25 million a year. Only three other players – Tyrick Hill ($ 30 million), Davante Adams ($ 28 million) and DeAndre Hopkins ($ 27.25 million) – have signed deals with an average of more per season in their position.
