An armed criminal fights fiercely with the police before being killed

An armed criminal had to be hit by police during a fierce battle after leading them into high-speed pursuit. Alexander Morgan escaped from his car and tried to cross a fence before being caught by police.

Moments after being pulled to the ground by a police officer, Morgan began resisting violent arrest – fighting on the floor with an armed officer before being hit. It was then established that a large kitchen knife was hidden in his jeans and he was arrested.

Morgan, 37, of Shelford Rise, Snynton, was brought to police attention on the evening of October 16, 2020, when he was seen behind the wheel of a car that was linked to a theft the day before. After being spotted by a police car on Woodborough Road, Morgan accelerated, passing many red traffic lights in and around downtown Nottingham and driving on the wrong side of the road.

After driving at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in residential areas, Morgan abandoned the car near the Oxbow Close sidewalk, The Meadows, where he tried and failed to escape.

When questioned by officials, Morgan declined to comment. He later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possession of an object with blades. Appearing in the Royal Court of Nottingham on Friday, April 29, Morgan was in prison for a total of 17 months.

Nottinghamshire Police Chief Louise Ramsey said: “It was a horrific drive that could have resulted in death or serious injury. Morgan drove through the bustling city center at high speed and showed absolutely no attention to other people’s safety.

“This is proof of the skills and professionalism of the officers involved, that this incident was bought to a safe conclusion, Morgan was safely detained. I am glad that he is now punished and will spend a lot of time behind bars. “
