An NA teacher has been charged with assault after allegedly pushing a child

A teacher at the Three Mile Plains District School in Three Mile Plains, NS, has been charged with assault after allegedly pushing a student into the school earlier this month.

The RCMP said that on April 7, witnesses saw the teacher push a student into a classroom, causing the child to hit his head on the floor. The report of the incident was submitted immediately, police said.

The RCMP said it received a request for help from the Ministry of Public Services on April 11.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Falmouth teacher on April 26th.

She is due to appear in Windsor County Court on June 14.

Police said there were no further details about the incident or the victim would be disregarded for the victim and their family.

The teacher is on leave

Three Mile Plains County School serves preschoolers up to 5th grade.

A spokesman for the Annapolis Valley Regional Education Center said the teacher had been released.

Kristen Loist said the center took the situation very seriously and was cooperating with the RCMP investigation, but would not comment further while the matter was in court.

“The safety of students’ safety and well-being continues to be a priority for the school,” she said in an e-mail statement. “The school communicates with families and staff is focused on supporting students. A school counselor is available for students who may need additional support. ”
