Andrew Garfield’s decision to retire from acting was reportedly driven by a desire to reconcile his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Alice Miller.
The 38-year-old Spider-Man star revealed earlier this week that he will take a “break” from Hollywood for about “a month or two” because he wants “usually for a while”.
And now it is said that his decision was influenced by the desire to resume his romance with the model Alice, 32, because he wants to “calm down” and can see a “future” with her.
Romance: Andrew Garfield’s decision to retire from acting is reportedly driven by a desire to reconcile his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Alice Miller
“Andrew’s decision to take a break was due to many factors, and one of them was Alice. They had something really special and their split time made him think twice, “a source told The Sun.
“Of course it’s early, but he made it clear that reconciliation is something he wants to work for.”
MailOnline contacted Andrew’s representatives for comment.
Last month, it was reported that Andrew and Alice had left in different ways, as their busy schedules made it difficult to see.
Ex: It is said that Andrew wants to resume his affair with model Alice, 32, because he wants to “calm down” and can see a “future” with her.
And in an interview with Variety this week, Andrew said he would retire from acting to “get some rest” and “be a little ordinary.”
The actor, who had several high-profile projects in 2021, admitted: “I need to re-calibrate and rethink what I want to do next and who I want to be, and just be a little human for a while.”
The star also compared the awards season to a stormy “washing machine”, saying: “This is a washing machine, this award season.”
Since then, Andrew has clarified during his participation in The View that he is not giving up or retiring from acting, but simply wants to take a “break” for maybe “a month or two”.
Appearing on the show to promote his new FX TV series Under the Flag of the Sky with colleague Daisy Edgar-Jones, he told the panel, “I just have a break.”
Busy: Last month it was reported that Andrew and Alice (pictured in February) were on their own paths as their busy schedules made it difficult to see
“I worked hard and loved the work I do, but I also have to spend about a month. One month off, maybe two, “he added.
He has been working non-stop for more than a year, with films like Tammy Faye’s Eyes, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tick … Tick … BOOM! and under the banner of heaven.
This comes after it was alleged that Andrew broke up with his girlfriend Alice last month, as their work schedules made it difficult to “see” each other.
The Spider-Man star was first linked to the American model last November.
Withdrawal: The 38-year-old Spider-Man star revealed earlier this week that he will take a “vacation” from Hollywood for about “a month or two” because he wants “usually for a while”
While Sports Illustrated beauty Alice accompanied the film star to the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February, Andrew attended the Oscars alone last month, where he lost the Will Smith Best Actor award.
A source told The Sun: “Andrew and Alice were a really beautiful couple and things were going great at first.
“They were together for a long time before they went public, but the work schedules mean that it was really difficult to see each other.
“On top of that, it became clear that there were some differences between them, and it was decided that they were better separated, at least for now.”
Long Year: It has been a busy year for Andrew to receive recognition for his recent portrayal of American TV evangelist Jim Baker with Jessica Chastain in the eyes of Tammy Faye.
The source added that it was “disappointing” for Andrew, who would like to share the awards season with “someone he loves”, but said he takes time for himself and keeps his chin up.
The couple was connected for the first time last November, when they noticed each other holding hands in New York.
Andrew has had a busy schedule over the last year and recently received his second Oscar nomination for his work in Tick, Tick … Boom!
He also recently reprized his role as a superhero in Spider-Man No Way Home and received much acclaim for his role as the controversial American TV evangelist Jim Baker alongside Jessica Chastain in Tammy Faye’s Eyes.
