Biden-backed representative Schontel Brown on Tuesday rejected progressive main contender Nina Turner, who was backed by the Republic of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The Associated Press called the 11th District primary for Brown, Ohio, shortly before 10:30 p.m.
Both Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., and President Biden jumped into the race at the last second. Biden announced his support for Brown last week, and Ocasio-Cortez backed Turner on Monday, the day before the primary.
But even before the approvals, Brown had the majority of the establishment backed in the race, while Turner, a leading surrogate for Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020, was backed by many on the left.

Brown’s victory in the Cleveland-based county is a loss for Ocasio-Cortez, who has effective experience in supporting the Democratic’s primary rivals.
She backed Corey Bush, D-Ohio, who defeated former Lacy Clay, D-Mo., And Jamaal Bowman, DN.Y., who ousted former Eliot Engel, DN.Y. Okayo-Cortez herself defeated former Joe Crowley, DNY, to enter Congress in 2018.
But Turner will not have that chance in 2022.

Earlier, Brown defeated Turner in the 2021 primary to take the place of former MP Marsha Fudge, Ohio, whom Biden chose as his secretary of housing and urban development.
Ohio’s 11th Congressional District is generally considered a safe haven for Democrats.
