APH reports five new hospitalizations with a positive test for COVID-19

Algoma Public Health reports five new COVID-19-positive hospitalizations, bringing the total to 30 in the region.

There are currently three people with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit.

APH confirmed 34 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 cases were resolved.

There are 242 active cases in the region, compared to 236 from yesterday’s report.

APH conducted 270 tests for COVID-19 with a positive percentage of 12.5%.

Eligible 85.3% of Algoma residents received at least two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of December 31, 2021, the province has limited PCR tests for COVID-19 to the highest risk populations. In addition, some people with a mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek a test. Algoma Public Health points out that the number of confirmed cases is an underestimation of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
