In an email to Protopop Games, Apple reportedly said: “This application has not been updated for a significant period of time and is scheduled to be discontinued after 30 days. No action is required to keep the app available to users who have already downloaded the app.
“You can keep this app available to new users for discovery and download from the App Store by sending an update for review within 30 days. If no update is sent within 30 days, the application will be removed from sale. ”
I’m sick. Apple just emailed me that they’re removing my free game Motivoto because it’s more than 2 years old.
This is part of their application improvement system.
This is not cool. Console games from 2000 are still available for sale.

“That’s not cool,” the developer tweeted in response to the email. “Console games from 2000 are still available for sale. This is an unfair barrier for indie developers.
“I’m sitting here on Friday night working [the] bones after my daily work, trying to make a living from my indie games, trying to keep up with the changes in Apple, Google, Unity, Xcode, MacOS, which are happening so fast that my head is spinning as I performs worse on older devices “, the developer added.
Apple confirms that the changes affect all applications, not just games, and if Apple employees encounter any problems with the applications in the store, they will contact the developers.
“To make it easier for customers to find great apps that meet their needs, we want to ensure that the apps available in the App Store are functional and up-to-date. We are implementing a continuous application evaluation process, removing applications that do not run as long as expected, do not follow current review guidelines, or are out of date, “said Apple.
As Apple explained in an email to the developers, even if your favorite app or game is removed from the store, you should have no problems using it, including microtransactions.
ICYMI may adopt a new EU law that will force Apple to allow users to install third-party applications on their devices, a process known as side-loading. The law, known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA), has not yet been passed by the European Parliament, but if passed, it could enter into force in October.
This would mean that Apple would be forced to allow consumers to access both third-party stores and third-party applications, something the company strongly opposes because it could compromise security.
