Apple’s plans for the iPhone 14 Pro are bold, but the company’s refusal is likely to make any significant changes to the standard iPhone 14 models, which is where the real shock is. And it just got worse …
After eye-opening reports in February that both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will once again lack Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display technology, now the most accurate insider in the industry has doubled the news.

Update September 5: Apple’s EverythingApplePro (also known as Filip Koroy) (popularly known as Filip Koroy) delves into the new design of the iPhone 14. that “it doesn’t look like much at first glance”, but a closer look reveals that the handset has been moved higher in the phone.
“Another surprising change that I didn’t notice at first, but then I can’t help but see, is the increased radii of the corners along with the thinner frames, which become 21% thinner. You’ll have more screen, but less frame and a more nice rounded shape that goes in the direction of the Apple Watch from the 7 Series. “
Koroy warns that these changes do not add much screen space, but take the iPhone range in a bold new direction. Koroy also adds that the schemes “absolutely confirm” the new dual hammer of the Pro models with the standard iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max, which keep the slot. For iPhone 14 Pro buyers, 2022 looks like an exciting year to upgrade, but those considering a standard iPhone 14 will probably have to wait until 2023, when major changes are coming.
In an attempt to correct an inaccurate report, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), tweeted that ProMotion will have Professional models only. And given Young’s remarkable experience, this looks like the latest nail in the coffin of technology that has become both popular and ubiquitous on mid-to-high-end Android smartphones in recent years.
And my feeling is that Apple is locked in a corner here. This year, Apple is determined to increase the gap between its Pro and non-Pro iPhones, and it can’t do so by giving standard iPhone models a feature called ProMotion. This is despite the fact that there is nothing particularly professional about ProMotion in 2022. This is a rare example of Apple’s marketing jargon that is back to bite the company and could not come at a worse time.
Under another name, ProMotion would be an easy and popular upgrade for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. High refresh rates bring a level of smoothness and responsiveness that is simply not possible on a 60Hz display, while reducing eye strain. Apple itself offers ProMotion as a “game-changing display.”

But without it, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max have almost nothing to recommend. In an unprecedented move, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will reuse the design, display technology, camera modules and chipset of the iPhone 13. All major upgrades are reserved for the iPhone Pro models.
In addition, this comes at a time when Apple is likely to be forced to improve prices across the range. So Apple needed an easy win, and ProMotion could be that. Market analysts are now raising questions about the potential success of the range, and they may simply be right.
