Armed police in Kingswood following a report of a man seen “with a firearm”

Gunmen stormed Kingswood today (Friday, April 22) after police received a report of a man likely carrying a firearm. Anonymous contacted police at 1:35 p.m., saying they saw a man enter the property and that he may have had a firearm.

Armed policemen arrived and stormed the address, but found it empty and found no firearms. They then searched the area and found no one matching the man’s description.

An eyewitness said Bristol live that they saw police officers enter the apartment and heard shouts. Photos from the scene show at least three firearms officers located outside the apartment building.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received an anonymous call at 1:35 pm about a man entering a property in Kingswood, stating that the man may have a firearm.

“Armed officers visited the place and forced the address to be entered, but found that it was empty and without traces of firearms. Officers also searched the area and found no one matching the man’s description.

A witness who contacted Bristol Live said he heard officers shout “this is the police, show me your hands” as they stormed the property in Taylor Close, near High Street. Other residents said on social media that they saw armed police near Alma Road.
