The vehicles were probably stolen, police said.
“The initial investigation found no evidence to suspect that these vehicles were involved in another crime,” police said in a press release on Wednesday.
“As these vehicles are believed to have been stolen, this is treated as an investigation into property crimes.
Police said the vehicles were found on April 8 from Lake Mohawk with the help of a diving team from the Ontario Provincial Police.
All vehicles are 1970 models.
A Chevrolet C10 truck, circa 1970-75, is among the seven suspected stolen vehicles found from Lake Mohok. Sent
Brantford police spokesman Robin Matthews-Osmond said the vehicles were spotted while the OPP conducted an unrelated investigation last week in Lake Mohawk.
Police believe they have already removed all vehicles from the water.
They are red 1975-77 AMC Pacer, brown Ford Cortina from 1972-75, blue truck Chevrolet C10 from 1970-75, green Plymouth Caravelle from 1978, white Chrysler Cordoba from 1977, white GTX 1970-75 and blue Pontiac 1970-75 Buick Riviera.
Police said all vehicles “suffered significant damage as a result of immersion in the water for what appears to be a long period of time”.
