Apple launched its self-service repair program in the United States earlier this week, and now we have the first video to unpack an iPhone repair kit.
Sam Cole of the YouTube channel iupdate ordered an iPhone repair kit from Apple to replace the display of the iPhone 12 Pro. What came after hiring official tools from Apple for $ 49 USD were two heavy-duty Pelican cases with equipment inside, which is essentially a Genius Bar for your home, says Cole.
In the boxes are the tools themselves without packaging. To repair the display of the iPhone 12 Pro was supplied a power cord for the equipment, consisting of a heated display pocket and remover, display press, repair tray, battery press, screwdriver box, various small toolbox and OEM itself display.
Cole says he was surprised by the tools received, but that’s what Apple will offer for self-service repairs to ensure customers can replace parts themselves. He will soon publish another video showing the repair of the iPhone screen with these official Apple tools.
Below is an image of the tools that Apple sends to customers in the kit seen above, except for the device on the left:

Apple customers in the United States can buy parts for their iPhone 12, 13 and SE 3 and rent tools from Apple. Parts that can be replaced by a user include the battery, lower speaker, camera, display, SIM card tray and crane motor. Next year, the program will be expanded to the M1 MacBook, while also expanding in Europe. Other markets and products will appear soon and will probably include Canada at some point.
