Red Sox 2 Blue Jace 6
This will happen quickly. I have squash in half an hour. I didn’t think I’d be able to see the end of the game before I had to leave.
Bo Bischet chose the perfect moment to come out of his decline. A draw, eighth innings, loaded bases (Espinal, Zimmer (single) and Springer, all selected to load bases), and Bo goes back to the Grand Slam. Previously, he was 0 for 3 with a strikeout and the conversations in GameThread moved him down the line.
Can I say that placing the pitcher you just called out just because you had pitchers who couldn’t get into Canada in a draw in the eighth inning seems to be …. I’m not sure that’s the right word. Either stupid or hopeful.
All our runs came on home runs. Lourdes Guriel, in the fifth, and Matt Chapman, in the seventh, had their own photos.
Nathan Eovaldi was very good for the Red Sox. He gave up only 5 strokes and no walks in 7 innings. Tyler Danish was not good.
Jose Berios did not look well at the beginning of the match. He gave up two missiles in the first inning, hitting 104.9 and 103.3, but both caught. He seemed to have trouble finding the zone, and when he did, the ball was hit hard. But Tapia, Springer and Zimmer are exceptional outfields. George Springer made a fantastic catch, turning back and to the left field with a well-hit flyball.
Over the course of the game, Berios improved. He made 7 innings, allowed 5 goals, 1 walk with 4 outs. Unfortunately, two hits came to start the eighth inning and it was drawn.
Adam Simber entered. The Red Sox made Kevin Plavecki beat the runners to second and third. Enrique Hernandez’s single and Alex Verdugo’s sack fly put the runners in and leveled the game.
Fortunately, Bo untied it at the bottom of the inning.
Julian Meriweder placed ninth, giving back one shot, but then shut things down.
Jace of the day: Berios (.277 WPA) and Bo (.111). I thought Bo’s number would be higher, but he could have helped the team with a hit earlier in the match.
Sucking? Cimber (-.091) had numbers.
