Blue Hills Reservation Brush Fire Burning – NBC Boston

Firefighters battled a large fire spanning 13-16 acres on the Blue Hills Reserve in Massachusetts on Sunday.

The teams received a call around 1 pm and fought the fire for more than seven hours. The area was cleared around 8:30 p.m., according to the Milton Fire Department.

Several communities were called to fight the flames, including Braintree, Canton, Milton, Quincy, Sharon, Dover and Norfolk. The Massachusetts State Air Force wing helped, and tank trucks were brought in to help put out the blaze.

No casualties were reported.

According to the Cantonese Fire Service, the fire itself was more in the Quincy / Braintree area of ​​the state park. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Meteorologists from NBC10 in Boston and NECN have warned that dry and cool conditions this weekend in New England will lead to potential fires in the south of the region. The leading cause of wildfires in New England is discarded cigarettes and burning brushes.
