Boris Johnson urges employees to “let off steam” and communicate with “Fridays for wine”

Boris Johnson is said to have “encouraged employees to lose some steam” and led the celebrations during the blockade, leaving for his aide.

The prime minister is said to have organized the event and even poured drinks to toast his former communications director, Lee Kane, in November 2020, something sources say.

Johnson is also said to have often encouraged employees to “let off steam” and socialize at Downing Street’s beverage establishments, called “wine Fridays”, while the United Kingdom was in strict blocking covid, the Mirror reported.

The prime minister will receive more fines for attending blocking parties, including the aforementioned departure.

The event began with a drink at the press center to end the week, but is said to have turned into a party after Mr Johnson arrived and started pouring drinks for everyone.

Sources confirmed to the Daily Mirror that the official taxpayer-funded photographer was present at all times – taking pictures of the prime minister violating his own blocking rules.

The photos were later handed over to police.

Insiders on Downing Street also told the Mirror how the prime minister often saw employees “sitting there drinking” as he went to his apartment.

Although indoor communication was banned under the blocking rules at the time, the prime minister did nothing to interrupt the meetings.

The source said: “He will come in and say, ‘Hello everyone, have you had a difficult week? To let off some steam? Oh great’.

“The idea that he didn’t know he had drinks is complete nonsense. If the prime minister tells you to “let off steam,” he’s actually saying that’s fine. “

One of Britain’s most respected constitutional historians yesterday called Mr Johnson a “fraudulent Prime Minister unworthy of the Queen”.

Peter Hennessy, who sits in the House of Lords, said the prime minister “rejects all conventions” in an “attack on state institutions”.

Usually, the meek peer of the cross bench accused Mr. Johnson of “polluting” his office like no other, turning it into an adventure ground for a man’s narcissistic vanity.

He said: “Decency, honesty and conventions in public life are not enough to limit the ego that currently fills number 10.”

Cursed for the Prime Minister, Lord Hennessy said Mr Johnson “must have deliberately misled” Parliament when he repeatedly claimed that the blocking rules were being followed at all times.

House Speaker Lindsay Hoyle is expected to allow lawmakers to vote on Tuesday on whether to investigate allegations that the prime minister misled parliament when he told lawmakers he had not violated any blocking rules.

On Wednesday, Mr Johnson faces a vote on whether he will be referred to the Committee on Parliamentary Privileges. If he is found to have broken the rules, Mr Johnson could be removed from parliament for disrespecting the privilege.

Deputy Labor leader Angela Raynor has ousted the prime minister over party allegations about Mr Kane.

She said: “If the latest reports are correct, it would mean that not only did the prime minister attend the parties, but he had a hand in initiating at least one of them.

“He deliberately deceived the British people at every turn. The prime minister has humiliated his cabinet. “

Sources said Mr Johnson joined the №10 crossing on 13 November 2020, the day Mr Kane and former Chief Assistant Prime Minister Dominic Cummings left Downing Street. Mr. Johnson “poured the drinks” – including for himself – and chatted with his assistants before raising a toast to his outgoing boss and posing for photos.

Another insider told The Sunday Times: “Boris approached, with a red box in tow, and gathered the staff around the table at the press center, which had bottles of alcohol on it. He said he wanted to say a few words about Lee and started pouring drinks for people and drinking himself. He healed him. “

Johnson later went upstairs to the apartment where his wife, Carrie, is said to have hosted a party with friends to celebrate Mr Cummings’ departure.

Sources at Downing Street did not dispute the description of Mr Kane’s departure, but denied that the Prime Minister had arranged it.

Mr Johnson is believed to have attended at least six of the 12 events investigated by Sofia police for violating Covid’s rules.

He, his wife Kari and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were fined by police at the Metro Station for violating the blockade laws with a rally on June 19, 2020, on the occasion of the 56th birthday of the Prime Minister.

The prime minister is expected to make a statement to parliament tomorrow on the fine, apologizing for the breach, but insists he did not know he had done so.
