Boris Johnson met with President Zelensky in Kyiv
Downing Street confirmed that members of Boris Johnson’s team intervened after a story about his wife Carrie was published in The Times, but denied that the prime minister himself had contacted the newspaper to complain.
In the first editions of the newspaper on Saturday, there was a story in which it is said that when he was foreign minister, Mr. Johnson tried to provide Carrie – with whom he had a secret relationship at the time – a job for 100,000 British pounds in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, the story disappeared from later editions.
Mr Johnson, meanwhile, was healthy enough to attend a Tory fundraiser in London on Monday, just hours after undergoing sinus surgery.
Number 10 said earlier in the day that the prime minister was “feeling well” after the routine operation.
Outside of fundraising, Tory MPs and senior leaders were booed by protesters from the PCS Union, who demonstrated with a demand for better pay.
On Tuesday, Mr Johnson was ready to call for a “reasonable compromise” to protect rail passengers from the chaos of traveling across the country, saying unions were “harming the people they claim to help”.

The Tory Minister has heard about the alleged plan to appoint Carrie Johnson to a government post
Allegations that Boris Johnson wanted to hire his lover were heard by ministers as early as 2018, according to a diary entry by Alan Duncan, then foreign minister in the foreign ministry.
In his published diaries, he noted on Sunday, April 22, 2018: “Obviously, Carrie Simonds, head of the press at the Conservative Headquarters, must become the SPAD in the FCO. This is the first time I’ve heard of him. “
A story published in The Times over the weekend claims that Carrie Johnson, then Carrie Symonds, will be appointed special adviser to the Foreign Ministry on a six-figure salary.
An original story published by The Times claims that the idea fell apart when Mr Johnson’s closest advisers learned of the idea of hiring Ms Simonds.

With the increase in Covid cases in the UK, Omicron sub-variants are “evolving”
New NHS data show that hospital admissions for patients with Covid in England have started to grow again.
The total number of those infected has already returned to the levels last seen in early May, but remains well below the record 4.9 million at the peak of the Omicron BA.2 wave at the end of March.
Admission to Covid Hospital is also below the levels recorded during the previous wave.
Experts say preliminary estimates suggest that options BA.4, BA.5 and BA.2.12.1 may have evolved to favor infection of lung cells rather than upper respiratory tract tissue, making them more similar to earlier versions, e.g. such as Alpha or Delta.

Patients are asked to schedule appointments in advance, as there are likely to be significant delays in reaching hospitals and GP surgeries.
Hospitals have taken steps to ensure the presence of staff on site, officials said, including setting up parking and riding services and taxi-sharing facilities.
The trusts called on patients to contact if they could not attend the meeting due to the strikes.

Amid rail chaos, prime minister calls for “reasonable compromise”

The prime minister is expected to say ahead of Tuesday’s cabinet meeting that unions are “harming the people they claim to be helping”, continuing with the biggest industrial boom in a generation.

The unions and ministers in the game blame it as passengers were hit by the worst railway strikes since 1980.
Railway unions have accused the government of “actively preventing” the resolution of a dispute that would disrupt the travel of millions of passengers on Tuesday in the most significant strikes that hit the network since the 1980s.
The RMT union suspended final talks with employers on Monday, accusing ministers of preventing Network Rail and train companies from negotiating free pay, jobs and conditions.
But Grant Shaps’ transport department dismissed the claim as “absolutely untrue”, saying the $ 2 billion shortfall in national network resources, which RMT attributed to government cuts, was actually the result of reduced passenger numbers after Covid.
