A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after being stabbed twice in Ancoats.
A homicide investigation has begun after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death after an incident on Pollard Street near central Manchester at around 6.30pm last night (Wednesday). Another man, also 20 years old, was left with leg injuries after being stabbed.
In an update released this morning (Thursday), police said a 23-year-old man showed up at A&E that night. He was then arrested on suspicion of murder.

A huge cordon was set up on Carruthers Street last night as dozens of police cars and ambulances were parked in front of the old Bank of England pub. An air ambulance landed nearby as an evidence tent was erected at the scene. A large cordon remains in place this morning (Thursday).
Detectives said they did not believe there was a “wider threat” to the community after the incident. All witnesses – or anyone with a recording on the area’s surveillance camera around 6.30pm last night – are called to contact us.

Chief Detective Wes Knights of the GMP Major Incident Team said: “As our investigation progresses, our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the man who unfortunately died. Specially trained staff are deployed to support them. Overnight, our investigation progressed and we build a detailed picture of the events that led to this incident.
“We can now assure members of the public that we do not believe there is any threat to the wider community, given that additional staff will remain in the area in the coming days.
