Russian forces say they have captured a British man fighting against them in the besieged city of Mariupol.
Aiden Aslin, who joined the Ukrainian army as a Marine in 2018, appears to have been handcuffed after surrendering to Russian troops.
The man shows signs of brutal beating of the image posted by a pro-Russian Twitter account.
The caption read: “Aiden Aslin. Great Britain, Nottingham. An English mercenary who fought on the side of the Nazis in Mariupol. Many lost him, but we found him. An interesting interview is coming soon.”
A friend of Mr Aslin’s told The Telegraph that the photo really looked like him and his distinctive tattoos could be seen.
“Vomiting has also taken over his appearance,” the friend said on Twitter. “We will keep an eye on him every day until he is exchanged.
Mr Aslin’s detachment was defending the southern city of Mariupol, which had been destroyed by constant bombardment by Russia.
