Calgary police are warning the public after a high-risk offender was released last week.
Cyrus Douglas Apetagon, 39, was released in the Calgary area after serving a 24-month sentence for breaking into the night and violating court orders.
Police say previous convictions include burglary and entry for sexual assault, access to child pornography, sexual violence, aggravated assault and confiscation of a motor vehicle without consent.

Apetagon also has a history of sexual assault on underage men and women who are known and unknown to him, police said.
He was closely monitored by the Calgary Police High-Risk Violators Program, police said in a statement Friday. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds of medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

“The Calgary Police Department issued this information and warning after careful consideration and consideration of all related issues, including concerns about confidentiality, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform community members about the release of Apetagon,” a statement said.
Police say citizens should take appropriate precautions and not take vigilant action.
