An accident sent two people to hospital early Sunday morning and forced Calgary police to close roads in northwestern Calgary.
Officers were called to 14th Street and Memorial Drive shortly after 2:30 a.m. for head-on collisions.
The CPS said the Honda HRV 2021 was traveling north on 14th Street northwest, near the northern end of the Mewata Bridge over Memorial Drive, and passed into the southern lanes. HRV hit the 2012 Nissan Altima traveling south.
Both vehicles are severely damaged.
A 36-year-old passenger in HRV was rushed to a hospital in serious condition with life-threatening conditions. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old female driver of the same vehicle suffered minor injuries and was also transported to hospital.
The 23-year-old man driving Altima suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

In a press release Sunday afternoon, police said alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, but did not say whether any charges had been filed. Earlier, the CPS told Global News that the driver of the vehicle with two people in it was detained.
14th Street Northwest was closed in both directions between Kensington Road and Memorial Drive for most of Sunday morning as officers continued their investigation.
